How does SMS advertising work? |
| |
Publishers have launched several Value added services (VAS) based on SMS to the consumers. An example of such a service would be a job alerts system delivered through SMS. We tap into such alerts and deliver your ADs as a part of the SMS itself. The first half of the message is typically the message by the service provider and the second half of the message is the AD.

The user will read the message because the service is something that the user has opted into. It could be a job alert or news alert message and this message is more likely to be read by the user. This ensures the desired mind share.
Call-to-action: Typically on SMS, the user has three call-to-actions.
- Click-to-call i.e. the user can call any phone number that you want him to call.
- Click-to-send-a-message i.e. the user can click and send a message to any long or short code number as response.
- Click-to-go-to-a-url - Certain rich phones support clicking on the url that is sent as a part of the message which redirects the user to any WAP site.
All SMS ADs are based on a CPM model (Cost Per Millie i.e. a thousand impressions) model with a click to call option available to the user.

How to measure the effectiveness of the campaign? |

ZestADZ gives you tools to be able to measure the statistics of your CPC / CPM campaigns.
The measure of effectiveness is different for different media differently
For WAP and Rich Media
- The response is measured by Click Through Rate (CTR)
For SMS
- ZestADZ can measure incoming SMS to its own long code
- Otherwise the Response Rates (like how many click to call) is not measurable automatically by ZestADZ. To work around this, we typically manage SMS campaigns with our own incoming phone number thereby effectively monitoring the response rates of the campaign.
- Alternatively, SMS campaign response rates can be measured by the advertisers through incoming calls to a call centre number
A successful mobile campaign has an average Response Rate or CTR is between 1-5% If your campaign is giving response rates lower than that, then its better to tune your Campaign or connect with us (sales [at] mobile-worx dot com) and we will manage the
